The Scarsdale Police Department received a call shortly before 1 p.m. on Saturday afternoon following reports of an assault that had just taken place outside of Scarsdale Bagels on Garth Road.
Police said that the complainant was traveling on Garth Road near the bagel store, when he approached a vehicle that was partially blocking the roadway, prompting him to honk his horn as he passed.
When the man attempted to proceed to Scarsdale Bagels, he allegedly was approached by the man - whose name was not released by police - who was cursing at him for honking his horn. The two had a verbal exchange before he entered the store to pick up his order.
According to police, after making his purchase and leaving the store, the complainant attempted to take a video capturing the man’s license plate, which prompted a physical altercation that ended with the man’s phone being tossed aside and the screen cracking.
The video was provided to police, which determined that he was an Eastchester resident living on Garth Road. After being tracked down, the man said he “would be more than willing to pay for the damages that occurred to the phone” as a result of the incident, and no criminal charges were made.
